【高一关于春节的英语作文】Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday in China. It usually comes in January or February every year. People celebrate it with a lot of activities and customs that have been passed down for thousands of years.
Before the Spring Festival, families clean their houses to sweep away bad luck and make room for good fortune. They also decorate their homes with red couplets and red lanterns, which symbolize happiness and prosperity. The color red is very important during this time because it is believed to bring good luck and scare away evil spirits.
On the eve of the Spring Festival, the whole family gets together for a big dinner. They eat many delicious dishes, such as dumplings, fish, and rice cakes. Each dish has its own meaning. For example, dumplings look like ancient Chinese money, so they represent wealth. Fish means “abundance” because the word for fish in Chinese sounds like the word for “surplus.”
After dinner, people watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV. It is a special program that includes songs, dances, and comedy performances. Children enjoy watching it and waiting for the fireworks at midnight. Fireworks are set off to welcome the new year and drive away evil spirits.
During the Spring Festival, people visit their relatives and friends. They give each other red envelopes filled with money as a sign of good wishes. Children are especially happy because they receive these red envelopes from their elders.
The Spring Festival is not only a time for celebration but also a time for family and tradition. It brings people together and reminds them of their cultural roots. Even though many people live far away from their hometowns, they always try to return home for this special holiday.
In my opinion, the Spring Festival is one of the most meaningful festivals in China. It shows the importance of family, tradition, and the hope for a better future. I love this festival because it makes me feel connected to my culture and my family.
